Some whirling thoughts

In my quest to lead an ethical or a dharmic life, there keeps happening a struggle between practicality and spirituality. While practicality is more easily understood, logical and sensible spirituality's dictates are slightly more complex. When I read books on Vedanta, life philosophy, they are just wonderful to read and make perfect sense. The difficulty lies in the application.

The more I try to integrate the various parts of my life, in alignment with my philosophy, the more I seem to struggle. It is like a tussle between two voices in my head, each of which makes sense in it's own way, but do not seamlessly merge into a tranquil sea. Is it due to the lack of faith in the spiritual teachings or plain human frailities ? But I also like to think of it as an indication of my evolution. Since my attempts are quite sincere, may be every sincere seeker has to go through these stages, to attain the peace of mind, which everyone so desires.

As our scriptures rightly point out, everything is within us. I think the greatest battles are not what are fought in the battle field, but within the mind. Good vs evil, right vs wrong, love vs hate, positive vs negative, truth vs lies. The choice is always there for us to make.

Sometimes the time has to be right, Ranjani.

And I have tagged you. Do let me know what you think.

Hi Sandhya, I will definitely take up the tag..will do it over the weekend !

Very well said Ranjani. I guess the wisdom to acknowledge and make peace with two inner voices is what is required initially and later the continuous efforts will make the right voice command the actions more. And yes sincere efforts do count the most. I am no authority in anything but looks like you are on the right track.

Vibha, thanks for ur comment. Though I know you are "no authority", I value your wisdom and thoughts. I always enjoy our discussions centred on this topic.
