Summer hols and nostalgia
I am enjoying my summer vacation in my home town in pretty much the same way I used to enjoy as a young girl. Yes..you read it right..MY summer vacation :-)
I finished all the books (magazines and periodicals which my parents buy) to be read in our house and then hit my old library. My brother and myself were members of three different libraries at various times. That kept us happy during the holidays. Now thankfully , one of the really good ones, is still around and it is the same guy there..he has just become bald ! So I usually take a temporary membership, take lots of books and get my deposit back when I leave town.
Sitting in the hot, sweaty, small library, I was transported to my earlier days. The days that saw me devouring - Sydney Sheldon, Irving Wallace, Alistair Maclean, Desmond Bagley, Agatha Christie, Jeffrey Archer. Most of these used to be quite worn out books - small print, really brown pages. I used to be hardly bothered about these little things ! What fun it used to be. For old times sake, I picked a Sydney Sheldon which I had not read and a David Baldacci book.
I don't remember reading any classics. Mysteries and thrillers have always interested me. Ofcourse the Sydney Sheldon book was not as appealing as it used to be when I was a teenager !!
