Discipline or tough love as I see it

- The heart begs to sleep for ten more minutes on a cosy wintery morning, when the alarm goes off before sun rise. The mind admonishes to wake up and complete that Surya Namaskar, which I had promised myself.

- The heart seeks the laptop to quickly check the mails during the busy morning hours in the kitchen, whereas the mind reasons that it is better to concentrate on the task at hand and approach the emails leisurely.

- The heart jumps in joy with a cursory look at the articles that I enjoy reading in the newspaper and tries to quickly go through it in the midst of getting the kids ready, food items cooking on the stove etc. The mind draws me back to my tasks at hand.

-  Even as the day progresses, the lure of the bean-bag and the favourite book is irresistable, but the mind keeps reminding me of the numerous pending tasks in the "To do list".

- The heart feels bad calling the son at the end of his play time, when it sees that he is totally enjoying himself. The mind reminds me of his pending home work and things to be studied for the day.

- The heart is bent on watching that one favourite TV program late in the night, the mind warns of the ticking clock and the need to wake up early and fresh.

In this tussle between the heart and the mind, sometimes the mind wins and sometimes the heart. But overall it is not too bad either ! But come friday evening, the heart completely beats the mind and rejoices in it's victory :-)

so very true, you just spoke my mind. Especially the surya Namaskar is so refreshing when done first thing early morning.
