Mom's presence in school - Different view points
Daughter to me : Amma, you don't like me. Otherwise you would have come and picked me from school.
Me : What ??? But why should I come, when the school bus drops you right at our doorstep ?
Daughter : No ..still...you should come and pick me up one of the days.
On my assurance that I will pick her up on the day I come to the school to give the books to the class teacher, she is delighted !

Me to Son : Sooraj, I will be coming to your school today to drop the cheque at the Front office.
Sooraj : Yeah, okay. But please, you don't have to come to my class.
Me (never loosing a chance to pull his legs) : " Oho...appadiya. Raasa, will definitely come searching for your class. Will call you out and hug you in front of everyone and much to your embarassment will ask you all the friends names and ask you to introduce me to them. How is it ?!! "
Sooraj with an exasperated grin and a whine : "Ammmmmmmmmmmma......"
Me : Okay, I assure you that I will not drop in to your class unless there is a pressing need to ask you something. Deal ?!
For one, the mom's presence is a matter of delight and for the other, an embarassment. My son is definitely growing up.

They grow up too soon, don't they? The other day A resisted my giving her a hug when her friends were visiting. "Please, Aai. You can hug me if you want, but only when it is just us at home!"

Cute! :) I even remember going through that phase - although these days kids get there much earlier...KG is worse than KB in that...she waits to make sure I leave before she goes and sits in her spot in the classroom!
